Cases / Systematic CURA
A critical new feature for Systematic's Columna Cura suite — using natural language processing to auto-fill care documentation and free caregivers from paperwork.
Systematic is a global leader in healthcare IT, best known for Columna — a suite used by hospitals and homecare providers across Scandinavia. When their Business Intelligence team needed to solve the documentation bottleneck in homecare, they brought MAUS in as their development partner.
Caregivers were spending significant time on manual data entry after each visit. The process was slow, inconsistent, and prone to errors. The team identified auto form filling powered by natural language processing as the breakthrough — and we built it.
The result is a feature embedded directly inside Columna Cura that listens to or reads natural language, extracts structured care data, and fills the right fields automatically — letting caregivers focus on patients, not paperwork.

Auto form filling via natural language
Spoken or typed notes are parsed and converted into structured form data — eliminating manual entry at the point of care.
ML-powered data categorization
Every captured data point is automatically classified — building a consistent, analytics-ready dataset across all care visits.
Native Columna Cura integration
No new tool to learn. The feature lives inside the existing workflow on tablet and desktop — zero friction for adoption.
More time for patient care
Caregivers reclaim the time previously lost to documentation — redirecting focus toward the person they are caring for.

What We Built
The auto form filling feature is built on four tightly integrated layers — from language understanding to workflow integration — each one critical to delivering a solution caregivers actually trust and use.
Caregivers speak or type naturally — the system extracts structured data and fills care forms automatically. No manual data entry. No re-keying information across systems.
Every data point captured is automatically categorized using trained ML models — ensuring consistency across caregivers, shifts, and patients without extra steps.
Built directly into the existing Columna Cura workflow — no new app to learn, no context switching. The feature slots into the tools caregivers already use on every visit.
Accurate, consistently structured records enable better analytics, personalized care strategies, and a more informed view of patient outcomes across the homecare team.
NLP Technology
The core of the feature is a natural language processing engine trained on healthcare-specific vocabulary and care documentation patterns. It doesn't just read text — it understands the clinical intent behind it, mapping everyday language to structured medical record fields with high precision.
Natural language input — voice or typed — is parsed in real time to identify care-relevant entities, actions, and observations without structured prompts.
Extracted information is mapped directly to the correct form fields — medication notes, activity logs, observations — so caregivers review rather than type.
ML classification ensures that identical care events are recorded the same way regardless of how a caregiver words it — building a clean, queryable dataset over time.
Automated form filling eliminates transcription errors and missed fields — improving data quality at the point of care, not during a later audit or correction cycle.
Impact
The auto form filling feature marks a meaningful shift in how homecare documentation works — not just faster, but structurally better. Caregivers engage more with patients, data quality improves across the board, and the foundation is set for an increasingly intelligent care platform.
For Caregivers
Caregivers no longer trail behind their workday catching up on forms. Natural language input means documentation happens in the moment — faster, more accurate, and without the cognitive load of structured entry.
For Systematic & Clients
Consistent, ML-classified records build a data foundation that powers analytics, improves care decisions, and positions Columna Cura as the intelligent standard for homecare documentation across Scandinavian markets.
